Sentiero degli Dei, Amalfi Coast

Path of the gods hike (Il Sentiero degli Dei), is an easy hiking trail along the Amalfi Coast, offering amazing views with the coast from well above the sea level. The hike is connecting the tiny Bomerano town of Agerola with Nocelle village, a small part of Positano located on the slopes of Monte Perus. In the past, it was the only path connecting the two villages.

The hike is supposed to take up to 3 hours, depending on the number of breaks and physical condition. We managed to finish it in 90 minutes, starting it from Bomerano (which is the recommended way since the views are better). You can also do it by going both ways, a lot o people choose to go both ways for getting back to the car etc. Other options are to start the hike from Positano (but only for the very fitted ones, since there are 1700+ stairs until reaching Nocelle). Or, as we did, we ended going down from Nocelle to Positano, and we spent the rest of the day at the beach.

It is not a hard hike and you need a minimal physical condition to finish it. There aren’t any direct steep drops or any dangerous parts, the route is circulated by people of all ages, from kids to people aged 60+.

At the end of the post you’ll find a Strava link with our route, in case you need more details. Below some technical details:

  • Duration: 1,5 – 3 hours
  • Length: 6 km (3,72 miles) from Bomerano to Nocelle
  • Ascent: 147 m
