Introduction
Nestled in the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, Zanzibar emerges as a paradise that conjures images of pristine beaches, aromatic spices, and a cultural tapestry woven through centuries. This enchanting island invites travelers to immerse themselves in a world where history, nature, and flavors collide. That’s why we choose Zanzibar for our honeymoon! We always knew we wanted something wild, exotic and different for our honeymoon, something you never forget, and we found out later it was the right choice. We had a lot of fun on the island, booking trips that were taking us in the ocean, to swim with the dolphins, on small islands that were visible only when the sea level dropped or on islands where giant turtles were around us. It’s all in the pictures below, check them out.
Before the trip
Before the trip, there were several check-ups to be made, from vaccines required, to the ones recommended (if any). As it turned out, you don’t need any vaccines if you go on the island directly. This means, that if you don’t land in Tanzania, but directly on the island you don’t need any. We read about having the optional ones, and read also about the potential side effects of those, and we choose not to have any vaccines at all. We just took some anti-mosquito spray that we used in the evenings and that was all. Turned out, it was a good decision and nothing happened after all. You could also decide to visit the safari which is on the main land, in Tanzania, in which case you need the mandatory vaccines.
Regarding food, make sure that all the food you eat is fresh and hot. We recommend trying the Zanzibar mix soup, the lobster, spice chicken, octopus, calamari.
