During winter season, the main two attractions are of course the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise area where you can find snow all year round and the Gornergrat area, a place where we’ve been last year, and that you can see in our post here. Also here you’ll find some other interesting facts about Zermatt.

Getting to Zermatt

Zermatt is a car free village, which means you can only get here by train. If you plan to come with a car, you will have to reach Täsch, which a village very close to Zermatt. From there you have to take a 15 minutes ride with the train. In Täsch there are plenty of parking spaces where you can leave the car. We recommend the Parking Matterhorn Terminal Täsch, which is the parking lot integrated straight with the train station which leads to Zermatt. Everything is very well organized and for carrying your baggage we recommend that you pick up a baggage cart directly from the parking place, which is extremely useful if you have lots of baggage to carry on, and it can be taken directly into the train and then up to your accommodation place in Zermatt.

Can you ski / snowboard in Zermatt in November?

This year we went to Zermatt end of November, and some of the slopes were not open, however, we had plenty of action while descending between glaciers from the top of the Klein Matterhorn (3.820m, 12.532 ft.) down to 2700m on the slopes that were open. The slopes were not very crowded, except the restaurants during peak lunch time, where you can spend some time waiting. We decided to eat a little bit later, around 14.00, so that we don’t waste a lot of time, which was a very good decision. The weather can change very quickly and can be also cold, with temperatures up to -15 degrees Celsius, so make sure you have proper equipment so that your experience is more enjoyable.

Conclusion

The evenings bring in lots of dinning options, from pubs to fancy restaurants but also many shopping options such as souvenirs, premium brands clothing, all in the majestic winter lightning of the small center of Zermatt.
