Stoos hike details
Stoos is an alpine village in central Switzerland, located at 45 minutes from Zürich and Luzern. An amazing hike starts directly from the mountain village, which by the way, has no cars. You get there by taking the steepest funicular in the world, which has a maximum incline of 110% (47 degrees), going up to an altitude difference of 744 meters. Stoos offers one of the most wonderful ridge hike trails in Switzerland, going between Klingenstock – Fronalpstock mountains. The landscape of the mountains is impressive, offering an amazing view of the lakes from central Switzerland. In order to see the impressive magnitude of the entire landscape, you’ll have to look us very close in some of the pictures.
We managed to do the hike beginning of July, when the view towards diverse alpine flora is blooming, however any time is excellent for it. Next time we plan to camp there for a night, the sunsets and sunrise up there will totally worth it. Please let us know if you have any questions, we’re happy tell you more.

Dear family,
Thank you for posting such nice tips. Speaking of camping up on the mountains, do you have any particular spot in mind? I’m planning on visiting Stoos Ridge, but I’ve also heard that the wild camping/sleeping under the stars is prohibited there.
Thanks for the answer.
Best,
Iva
Thank you for stopping by, Iva. Usually, camping above the tree line is not prohibited, except in special areas such a national parks etc. I am not sure about the camping at the Stoos Ridge, maybe asking the locals can help you. Have a nice trip! Dan
